Bob earned Bachelor of Science (1969), M.B.A. (1972) and Doctor of Philosophy (1974) degrees in Business Administration from Louisiana State University.  His major fields of study were Marketing and Operations Research. His research is published in the leading business journals and he was recognized by the American Marketing Association in its Marketing News publication in 1997 as one of the “Best Researchers” in Marketing.  His research papers appear in the Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Retailing, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Marketing Channels and other scholarly journals.  He has been designated a Distinguished Fellow of the Society for Marketing Advances in recognition of a lifetime of service and achievement.

Bob Robicheaux served as Marshall Scholar and Professor of Marketing in the Collat School of Business at the University of Alabama at Birmingham from 2004 to 2017.  During that period he served a chairman of the Department of Management, Marketing & Industrial Distribution and then the Department of Marketing, Industrial Distribution & Economics.  He joined UAB to further the development of the Industrial Distribution program, a joint Business and Engineering program that produces highly qualified industrial product salespersons.   In 2006 he created the Medical Products sales program whose students complete the UAB Pre-Medicine core requirements and a concentration in Marketing to prepare to sell medical equipment, supplies and systems.

Bob held marketing faculty positions at the University of Alabama (1977–2004), University of Tennessee (1974-77) and Louisiana State University (1973-74). From 1993 until 2004, Bob served as the Bruno Professor of Marketing and Marketing Program Coordinator in the Culverhouse College of Commerce and Business Administration at the University of Alabama.  He also served as the Director of the Hess Institute for Retailing Development.

He has lectured in universities in Australia, England, Canada, Germany and Mexico.  Bob has served as President of the International Society of Franchising, Southern Marketing Association (now Society for Marketing Advances) and the Allied Southern Business Association.
